본 연구는 해외입양인들이 모국을 이해하도록 하는 한국문화와 언어교육을 위한 기초 조사를 그 목적으로 두고 있다.
이러한 목적에 따라, 본 연구는 아래와 같은 사항에 초점을 두고 이루어졌다.
첫째, 국내외 해외입양인들의 한국어교육에 대한 요구를 조사한다.
둘째, 해외입양인들이 어떻게 한국어를 학습하는지를 확인하고 한국어교육 과정에 관한 그들의 평가를 확인한다.
셋째, 해외입양인만을 대상으로 한 한국어교육 교재 및 과정의 설계에 대한 해외입양인들의 의견을 묻는다.
위와 같은 사항을 바탕으로 각 장의 내용은 다음과 같이 구성되었다.
1장에서는 연구의 목적 및 방법을 제시하고 해외입양인과 관련한 한국어교육계의 연구 및 그 밖의 선행연구들을 살펴보았다.
2장에서는 해외입양인 관련 개념 및 현황을 정리하고 한국어 학습자로서의 요구를 분석했다. 그리고 그 분석 결과를 바탕으로 해외입양인을 위한 한국어교육 방안을 제시해 보았고 그 방안을 실제 해외입양인 한국어 수업에 적용해서 그 과정에 대한 학습자들의 만족도를 조사해 보았다.
3장에서는 끝으로 지금까지의 연구를 정리하고 본 연구가 가지는 의의를 다시 살펴보았다. 그리고 앞으로의 연구들에 대한 제언을 덧붙였다.

This study aims at fundamentally researching Korean culture and language education to help overseas adopted Koreans to understand their motherland better.
This research has been conducted to focus on the following:
First, the need for Korean language education for overseas adopted Koreans, both in and out of Korea; second, surveying how Korean adoptees have been studying Korean language and their opinion of existing Korean language courses; and third, asking adoptees about developing Korean language textbooks and Korean Language curricula specifically for overseas adopted Koreans .
Based on these research findings, the thesis is organized as follows:
Chapter 1 relates to the introduction for the purpose and method of this study and other previous research on Korean language education associated with Korean overseas adoptees are examined.
Chapter 2 presents concepts and current status related to Korean adoptees and their needs for Korean language education are analyzed. Based on the results, proposals about Korean language education specialized in overseas adopted Koreans are suggested and I applied these proposals to a real group of adoptee students and measured their satisfaction with the course.
Chapter 3 presents the overview and meanings of this study . In addition, comments about studies in the future are included.
