The purpose of this study is to develop a textbook model of Korean language and culture specifically for migrant workers. The purpose of this study is to develop a textbook model of Korean language and culture specifically for migrant workers. Considering the reality of inadequate Korean language education for migrant workers, the purpose here is not merely to improve Korean language communication skills but to also manage the daily and professional lives seamlessly by way of understanding the Korean culture. Following an explanation of the research method and a review of preexisting scholarship, the following study presents the debate on the development of educational material on the subject of Korean language and culture, subsequently applying the theories and principles specifically to migrant workers and thus expanding the debate further. A comparison is drawn between general Korean language course material and those intended for use to teach migrant worker students, yielding the basis for the subsequent survey and analysis of the requirements to teach migrant worker students effectively.
