The last meeting reveals Mary’s true nature to Edmund, who realizes he has idealized her as someone she is not. He tells her so and returns to Mansfield and his living as a parson at Thornton Lacey. Soon Edmund realizes how important Fanny is to him, declares his love for her and they are married. At the end of this book, Fanny wins Edmund’s love. In fact, it reflects rationality defeat irrationality in the end. Fanny loves Edmund for quite a long time, but she tries very hard to control her love because she doesn’t want to make him fell troubled. She respects him, and she respects Mary who Edmund deeply loves .As Fanny has a rational view on marriage as well as the choice of her spouse, she succeeds to possess a wonderful wedding, a considerate husband, and a happy family. No matter the characters in the novel, or people in the 21st century, everyone needs a rational view on marriage. I believe, everyone needs the help of self-control and rationality to deal with various kinds of issues. If we use an easy sentence to understand the use of rationality, we may say: rationality can make quarrels less, more understanding.
