Abstract: In order to find out the real factors influencing the secondary school students’ listening understanding and develop the efficient teaching strategies, a survey is conducted among some secondary school students. Based on the finding of the survey, this paper discusses the factors influencing middle school students’ English listening in two groups: linguistic and non-linguistic. Besides, some helpful teaching strategies are put forward in the paper, too. Key words: English listening; influencing factors; settlement
摘要:为了找出影响中学生英语听力理解的因素并提出最有效的教学策略,笔者就相关问题在部分中学生中展开了一项问卷调查,根据调查的结果,本文从语言和非语言两方面来探讨中学生英语听力的影响因素,除此之外,针对这些影响因素本文中亦提出了一些有帮助性的教学策略。 关键词:英语听力;影响因素;解决方法
Over the past several years, listening has come to be recognized as an important facilitator of language acquisition because English learners do this by interacting with the speakers to clarify the input and in the process of doing so they learn more about the language. Consequently, there are a lot of researches on English learning, both at home and abroad. Some of the researches are concerning the learning efficiency of students’ English listening. Humanistic psychologist Rogers’ (C. R. Rogers) theory of “student center” refers to the point that students should be the mainstay of learning. Teachers can use intuitive, innovative and vivid images, animation, text and other sensory forms to stimulate students so as to improve their interests in listening in English learning. At present, English is taught in almost all secondary schools, and the overall level of English teaching and learning is ever increasing. However, the level of the secondary school students’ English listening ability is not so optimistic. Frequently, students’ writing ability goes before their listening, which can be proved by their achievement in the written form examinations. Why does such phenomenon exist? Reasons are various. In order to find out the real factors influencing the secondary school students’ listening understanding and develop the efficient teaching strategies, a survey is conducted among some secondary school students.
