Abstract: It is widely admitted that teaching English in a small class has certain disadvantages over in a large class. Small class teaching is an inevitable trend in Junior High School English teaching now. Some researchers show that the small class teaching highlights the new English Curriculum Standard by human management and individualized education. However，small class has encountered two obstacles: lack of teachers, lack of professional materials. Therefore, it is necessary to clear the main principles and learn some basic strategies for small class English teaching in order to really improve English teaching. This study aims to investigate the effects of Small Class Teaching on Junior High School English Teaching. The thesis makes the conception of “small-class education” by searching some information and reading books and mainly analyzes advantages of “small-class education” from four points.

摘要：英语小班教学比大班教学更具优势，这已经成为一种普遍共识。如今，初中英语小班教学已成为一种不可避免的优势。一些研究发现：小班教学的人性化管理和个性教育，充分体现了英语新课标的要求。然而，师资缺乏，专业材料不足已经阻碍了小班教学的发展。因此，为了真正提高英语教学水平，明确英语小班教学的主要原则和基本策略十分必要。本论文报告了小班化教学在初中英语教学中的作用。本文通过查阅资料、研读书籍等方法和途径，对有关小班化教育概念进行了界定。作者重点从4个方面论析小班化教学在初中英语教学中的作用。
