Abstract: Traditional festivals are one part of culture, reflecting people’s life styles, national psychology, ethic values, spirits, and sense of aesthetics. Both Britain and Chinese traditional festivals reflect their distinctive cultural, economic, religious and social diversity of their country. This paper provides a contrastive analysis of cultural differences between Spring Festival and Christmas, Tomb-Sweeping Day and Halloween, Double Seven Festival and Saint Valentine's Day, and probes into the causes of the cultural difference.

摘要： 传统节日是文化的组成部分之一，反映了该国家人民的生活方式、民族心理、道德观、价值观、精神面貌和审美观等。中英两国的传统节日都反映各自国家的独特的文化、经济、宗教和社会的多样性。本文对比分析了春节和圣诞节、清明和万圣节、七夕和情人节之间的文化差异, 并探索了导致文化差异的原因。
