Abstract: Social appellation refers to the appellation custom that reflects people's relation to each other in daily life, especially in social occasions. Social appellation is directly governed by the real social life and the age of human survival. It can be divided into two kinds: non-kinship terms and context appellation. Chinese and English address terms bear great differences due to the huge cultural differences. This page will discuss the differences between Chinese and English social appellation from non-kinship terms and context appellation. Then the four translation regulations of Chinese social appellation will be discussed which are reflecting identity and status relationship between both sides, conveying the tone of speakers, expressing the emotion of speakers and reflecting the appellation stylistic features.

摘要：社交称谓是指除去亲属称谓以外的，反映人们在社会生活中相互关系，尤其是社交场合应用的称谓习俗。社交称谓直接为现实社会生活和时代所制约。社交称谓主要由非亲属称谓和语境称谓两大分支构成。由于英汉文化的巨大差异，导致英汉社交称谓也存在很大不同。本文将从非亲属称谓和语境称谓两方面比较英汉社交称谓的区别以及针对汉语社交称谓的英译所要遵循的四大规则，包括：反映称谓双方的身份地位关系，说话者的语气，情绪以及称谓的语体特征。
