Abstract: Euphemism is a common linguistic as well as cultural phenomenon in daily life. It oils the human relationship in communication and helps to save face of communicators. Euphemism also plays a very important role in international business negotiation, because it is helpful for the two parties to strengthen mutual belief and understanding, and sometimes it can be a decisive factor for a successful negotiation. Euphemism holds great interest for scholars both eastern and western and some exciting progress has been made both at home and abroad in its studies from various points of view. The paper, one the basis of introducing euphemism and its importance in negotiation, analyzes its application, and illustrates the problems that should be focused.

摘要：委婉语是我们日常生活中一种常见的语言和文化现象。它在人们的交际活动中能起到润滑的作用，同时还能为交际双方保存面子。委婉语在国际商务英语谈判中扮演一个非常重要的角色，它有助于谈判双方的相互信任和相互理解，有时甚至决定商务谈判能否成功。国内外的学者对委婉语也做了大量的、多角度的研究。本文在介绍委婉语及其在国际商务谈判中的重要性的基础上，分析了委婉语在国际商务谈判中的具体应用方式，并阐述了运用委婉语时应注意的问题。
