Abstract:People from different cultural backgrounds have different cultural norms, practices, and expectations in their social contact. Different ways of thinking and behavious influence their ways of communications. Sometimes Chinese and Westerners hold very different opinions towards the same sentence because of their different culture backgrounds. If we can not catch the essence of other’s cultural backgrounds and understand clearly the differences between Chinese and western cultures, we may not use English properly during the cross-culture communication. There is no denying that the differences between Chinese and Western culture have strong influence on English learners in many aspects. So, it is very necessary and significant for English learners to understand the main cultural differences. This thesis is aimed at finding out the main influences of Chinese culture and western culture on English study through analyzing abundant examples and cases, and helping English learners in their study and cross-cultural communication.

中文摘要:不同文化背景的人在社会交往中，遵从各自不同的文化规则和习惯。不同的思维和行为方式影响着人们的交际模式。有时候，同一句话，但是因为不同的文化背景，中西方的人们会持有不同的看法。生活在特定的文化背景中，英语学习者必定会受到本国文化的影响。在英语学习中，因为文化的差异，英语学习者不可避免地会遇到各种各样的文化特色的问题。因此，正确掌握中西文化的差异对英语学习者来说是非常的重要，也是很必要的。本论文通过分析中西文化的差异对英语学习所产生的影响，希望可以帮助英语学习者有意识地了解中西文化的差异，从而提高英语学习的效率。
