Abstract:In China and the West, the researches of the impact of cultural differences on the idiom translation have formed a relatively complete system. Scholars have noted that in idiom translation, which is cross-cultural communication, enough attention must be paid to “cultural shift”, the meanings of idioms in different cultures. There are translatability and untranslatability in idiom translations. Translators are increasingly attaching importance to the impact of culture on idiom translation, given the cultural flavor and the preservation of cultural heritage. It is not just the translation of the words closely. Scholars at home and abroad have been working on this topic for years, and it will receive further attention certainly.

　　With the preliminary analysis of Chinese and Western cultures, idioms and translation, we sort out cultural differences and the influences. Understanding the impact of cultural differences on idiom translation can help us to convey the meaning accurately, to retain the cultural flavor and to avoid the misunderstanding in the cross-cultural communications. This thesis is going to discuss the cultural influences, the cross-cultural problems and the countermeasures of idiom translation.

中文摘要:研究中西文化对习语翻译的影响，在国内外已经形成了比较完整的体系，学者们已经注意到在翻译这一跨文化交际的活动中，必须注意“文化转向”和不同文化背景下习语的意思，如张培基、瞿秋白等人。对习语翻译已经提出可译与不可译的两种定性，译者们越来越重视文化对习语翻译的影响，注重保留文化的色彩和底蕴，而不单单紧扣字句的翻译。近期研究文化对习语翻译的影响的学者则有陈宏微等人，提出的学说是“翻译是跨语言、跨文学的交际活动”（1996）。文化对习语翻译的影响将得到更进一步的重视。

　　在初步剖析中西文化、习语和翻译三者之间的关系，从它们的关系中认识和理清中西文化差异对习语翻译的影响。了解中西文化差异对习语翻译的影响，有助于翻译过程中准确转达或者转述文化交流中的意思和内涵，有助于在翻译中保留不同文化的底蕴，有助于避免跨文化交流中的误解。通过研究中西文化差异对习语翻译之影响，探讨应对习语翻译中文化因素的方法，了解习语翻译中面对文化差异要注意的事项。
