Abstract：Vocabulary is the base of English. However, in vocabulary teaching, there exist many problems. Students are tired of memorizing English words in isolation. The number of words they have to learn often frustrates them. To solve these problems, this paper examines the possibility of applying affixation, one of the most productive word-formation methods to memorization of English words. From the perspective of long-term memory, the author believes that affixation is effective in English vocabulary teaching and learning.

中文摘要：词汇是英语学习的重要基础，但在英语词汇教学中存在着词汇较多并且孤立教授词汇的问题，学生难以有效省时地记忆词汇。为了解决这一问题，本论文阐述了在英语单词教学中使用词缀法的可能性。单词的词根与词缀有旺盛的生命力。从人类长期记忆的规律和特点出发，可以得出利用构词法中的词根与词汇可以帮助学生有效地记忆单词。
