Abstract:With the development of economy, in China, English is more and more important. There are many differences of writing between English and Chinese, for Chinese students always have much difficulty to express appropriately and clearly in English. These problems are mainly caused by the negative transfer of Chinese in Chinese student’s English writings. This thesis mainly analyses the negative transfer of Chinese on students’ English writing grammar (the tense, voice, case, the number, article and preposition). The aim of this thesis is both teachers and students could get help from it in their teaching or learning of English. Key words: students’ English writings; negative transfer; native language
