Abstract:The thesis aimes at studying idiom translation between Chinese and English from a cultural aspect.

　　　The First part is the introduction to the definition of Chinese idiom (成语), English idiom and the different features of Chinese idioms. English idioms are compared first. In the second part, the relations among idioms, language, and culture are briefly introduced. The third part introduces the different form and culture between English and Chinese idioms. The fourth part cites plenty of examples to compare Chinese culture with English culture in number in order to draw the conclusion that idioms reflect cultural characteristics. Finally, four translation methods are put forward.   

　　　The translating process should be focused on language transfer, and it is important for cultural transposition, especially for idioms abstract meanings translation. The translation methods that the paper discusses are not only useful for disclosing the cultural factors in idioms, but also helpful to other translation work in focusing on cultural characteristics.

摘要:本文旨在通过数字内涵的文化来探讨英汉成语翻译的方法。

　　　第一部分介绍英汉成语概念的不同的界定，并得出两者之间的差异。第二部分简述成语，语言，文化之间的关系。第三部分分析英汉成语的特点和文化差异。第四部分通过列举英汉成语中数字的文化内涵，最后，根据上文比较提出四种翻译的方法作探讨。

   此外，在翻译过程中不仅是语言的转换，并且更重要的是注重文化传递。希望文中所探讨的成语的翻译方法不仅可以揭示其文化特色，并且对其他英汉翻译在文化因素方面也有所裨益。
