Abstract:  In both Chinese and English culture there have been a great number of animal idioms. Rooted in different cultures, animal idioms with specific implications differ from each other. In this paper animal idioms of Chinese and English culture are briefly classified in the following three aspects: same animal, same connotation; same animal, different connotation; different animal, same connotation. This paper attempts to make comparative analyses of cultural connotations reflected by four English and Chinese animal related idioms.

摘要：汉英两种文化中都有大量与动物相关的习语。植根于不同的文化土壤，这类动物习语有其显著特征。本文将汉英动物习语大致分为以下三个方面：同一动物、内涵相同；同一动物、内涵不同；不同动物、内涵相同。本文就四种动物相关的习语在英汉两种语言中蕴含的文化内涵及喻意进行了分析和比较。
