Abstract:The Pursuit of Happyness is a movie based on the best-selling memoir written by Gardner with Quincy Troupe. Many scholars have done research about this film in different orientation, but very little on Systemic-Function Grammar. This paper is based on the interpersonal meaning in Halliday’s systemic functional grammar, trying to explore the relationships and characteristic by using mood and modality through the analysis of dialogues between the main characters in movie, the Pursuit of Happyness.

　　　Discourse analysis from functional perspective might lead to a better understanding of the movie and try to verify this theory’s feasibility in literature analysis.

摘 要:《当幸福来敲门》是根据美国真人改编的一部电影。讲述的是克里斯·加德纳通过不懈的努力，最终成为证券经纪人的故事。前人学者们曾经从不同的视角对该电影做过研究，但是迄今为止从系统功能语言学角度对其做过的研究少之又少。因此，本文以韩礼德的功能语法学为理论基础，从人际意义的角度出发，运用情态和语气的两个方面，对《当幸福来敲门》中主要人物对话的进行分析。

　　　通过对电影进行人际意义的分析，了解剧中人物之间的关系及其性格特征；同时也试图验证这一理论在文学语篇分析中的可行性。
