Abstract:This study seeks to determine some of the causes which lead English majors in Independent Colleges to miscomprehend unfamiliar English slang. Based upon the Think-aloud protocols, this dissertation presents an investigation into 40 first-year English majors’ comprehension of English slang studying in Zengcheng College of South China Normal University. The results reveal that the main problems that cause English majors’ miscomprehension when they comprehend unfamiliar English slang are vocabulary, grammar, culture background knowledge and translation. Some proposals have been put forth as solutions to these problems. Key words: English majors in Independent Colleges; English slang; Miscomprehension
摘 要:本文对独立学院英语专业学生英语俚语理解错误的原因进行了研究。40名XX学院英语专业一年级学生参加了理解英语俚语的有声思维实验。实验结果表明词汇、语法、背景文化知识和翻译是导致学生对不熟悉英语俚语理解错误的主要问题。本文还对造成这些问题的原因进行了分析，根据分析的结果提出了建议。 关键词：独立学院英语专业学生；英语俚语；理解错误 |
