Abstract:Lord of the flies is the first published novel of William Golding’s with great achievements. It became a hot topic in academic research of literary works and meets countless favorable voices since it has been published in 1954. Golding won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1983. He reveals humanity through the experience of a group of children on the islands.

Most of the studies on Lord of the Flies, both home and abroad, the focus of their studies range from the profound theme of its source, genre, and archetypes, and this novel is studied from symbolism, feminism, Jung’s theories of collective unconsciousness and other theories. These researches differ in theoretical basis, research propositions, research direction and conclusions with other thesis. Based on the previous researches, this thesis tries to start with ethical study to explore the characters of Lord of the Flies to explain the theme of Golding’s humanity evil by using Xun Zi’s theory of evil human nature. Through the analysis, the readers can understand clearly why and how the characters in Lord of the Flies recover humanity when they lose their self-control and take off social civilized restraint. What’s more, this thesis lets the readers realize self–cognition and watch out for the darkness and evil of heart.

中文摘要:《蝇王》是英国著名小说家威廉.戈尔丁的第一部成就显著的小说。它于1954年问世以来，就备受关注，广受好评。在1983年，威廉.戈尔丁因此作品荣获了诺贝尔文学奖。他通过一群孩子在孤岛的经历来揭示人性。

对《蝇王》的研究国内外文学评论众多，批评界对《蝇王》的研究大致可分为：来源研究，文类研究，原型研究，主题研究等，并且从象征主义、女性主义、荣格的集体无意识理论和探讨其深刻思想内涵。这些研究有着不同的的理论基础、研究命题、研究方向和不同的结论。在前人的研究基础上，本文试图从伦理学分析入手，主要从孟子性恶论的角度来着重探讨《蝇王》中的人物来阐释戈尔丁《蝇王》中人性恶主题。通过分析，读者能更清楚地了解到《蝇王》中的人物为什么和怎样复归到最初的人性恶。更重要的是让读者更好的认识自己，以及警惕人类内心的邪恶。
