Abstract:Breakfast at Tiffany's is a novella by Truman Capote published in 1958. The main character, Holly Golightly, is one of Capote's best-known creations. She is a party girl whose life is full of novelty and desire. There were countless men around her and she skilfully deal with those men, trying to catch any chance to marry a rich and famous guy. Feminist existentialism, proposed by Simone de Beauvoir, emphasizes that women should honestly face to themselves and their situations, making efforts to change bad situations, so that they can participate in shaping the past world shaped by men. This paper focuses on the analysis of Holly, the heroine in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, based on the feminist existentialism to dialectically analyse Holly’s wild behavior and pure nature. Finally the author reaches the conclusion that Holly is an extremely complex girl with contradictions ---she is innocent but also secular;she went around to rely on others to meet her material needs, but still tried to maintain dignity. In the perspective of feminist existentialism, Holly compromised in the society to make a living .However , some behaviors reflected her free and independent aspects. Keywords: Breakfast at Tiffany's ,Truman Capote , Holly Golightly, feminist existentialism, contradictions.
