Abstract: The Great Gatsby is the most representative works of F. Scott Fitzgerald who is an American author. The novel gives a vivid picture of the mammonist, hedonistic world of the Jazz Age, capturing both the frantic gaiety and the underlying sadness. The study aims to analyze the development of Daisy's inner world through three periods, and it emerges the journey of the heart of Daisy changes from a dreamy girl to a heartless and selfish mammonist in upper class. First, when she gets married to Tom, Daisy gains the fulfillment of security in material. Then, she gets a reunion with Gatsby, so Daisy seeks for satisfaction in spirit. Last, after the traffic accident, Daisy becomes selfish and cruel. It reveals the typical female image of selfishness, mammonist , and dishonesty in the 1920s. 摘要: 《了不起的盖茨比》是美国作家弗·斯格特·菲茨杰拉德的最具代表性的作品。小说是爵士时代那种金钱至上、享乐主义世界的真实写照,捕获了疯狂的兴奋和隐藏的悲伤。本文从三个时间段旨在分析黛西内心世界的发展过程,展现黛西由梦幻少女转变为上流社会冷漠无情、自私自利的物质至上主义者的心路历程。首先嫁给汤姆后,满足物质上的安全感;再遇盖茨比,寻求精神上的安慰;酿成车祸后,变得极端的冷酷自私,从而揭示20世纪20年代美国社会中典型的自私、金钱至上、浅薄与不诚实的女性形象。 关键词:《了不起的盖茨比》;黛西;金钱至上 |
