ABSTRACT:The word “Chi”, as a media of translating culture to foreign countries, is important for everyone in the world. Every one of our society treats “Chi” as our prime want. The meaning of “Chi” can be found everywhere, such as “吃饭”，“吃亏”，“白吃”, etc. 

In order to transfer the Chinese “Chi” culture well, this paper tries to make efforts to give an appropriate conclusion on translating the Chinese word “Chi” through classification and illustration based on the three principles of translation by Alexander Fraser Tytler. Furthermore, the paper tries to prove the accurate and practical translations on Chinese word “Chi”.

摘要:“吃”，作为传播各国文化的媒介，对于世界上任何一个人都是至关重要的。民以食为天，社会中的每一成员基本都是这样认为的。 “吃”字所蕴含的意思比比皆是，如“吃饭”，“吃亏”，“白吃”等等，对于“吃”字的翻译更是数不胜数。

为了更好地传播中国的“吃”文化，本文基于亚历山大·弗雷泽·泰特勒的翻译三原则，运用分类法和例证法，致力于对于“吃”字翻译的总结。并运用多种实例来验证其的准确性和实用性。
