Abstract: Color exists in everywhere of the earth which makes the understanding and feeling to Chinese and English are much alike. Color words have rich cultural connotations and rich emotions, thus people in different regions have different opinions, beliefs and habits that produce misunderstanding when communication. At the same time, color words are always used as adjective by people, but they can be also used as verbs, adverbs, nouns and so on. With the development of the world, the communication between Chinese and English is becoming more and more frequent, it is very important to have a comparative study on the cultural connotations and translation methods of color terms between Chinese and English. This thesis chooses color words black and white which are the most common ones to give a research.  Then, the translation methods will be discussed under the Chinese and English culture according to large number of examples. It is hoped there will be full of practical significance for translating practice and promoting Chinese-English cultural communication.

摘要: 颜色存在地球的每一个角落，这使得中国人和英国人对于颜色词的理解和感觉有很多相似的地方。颜色词有着丰富的文化内涵和感情色彩，因此，不同地域的人们有着不同的见解，不同的信仰和不同的习惯对于颜色词的理解也存在很大的不同，这就导致不同国家的人们在交流时总会产生误解。同时，人们认为颜色词只能用做形容词，但是他们可以用动词，副词，名词等等。随着经济全球化发展，中国和英国的交流日趋频繁，因此，对英语和汉语颜色词的文化内涵对比及翻译方法研究具有重要意义。这篇论文选择了最常见的颜色词黑白做代表进行研究并通过大量的例子探讨出中英文化视角下颜色词的翻译策略，希望这能够对中西文化交流和翻译实践有一定的现实指导意义。
