Abstract: The Model Minority theory was born in America in the 1960s, and recurred in the 1980s. As a result of the effect of a series of social movements, such as civil rights movement of black man, this theory was heavily politically tinged as soon as it came into being. Its core is that Asian-Americans have achieved great success in the economic and social life and have been integrated into the U.S. mainstream society successfully thanks to their own cultural characteristics, as a contrast to the laziness of black Americans and the dependence on the federal government. The model minority theory has not only covered up the racial discrimination the Asian ethnic groups suffered, but also served as an incitement to other ethnic grievances. Key words: Model Minority, Asian Americans, Negative Effect
