ABSTRACT:Mobile phone dictionaries are gaining in popularity with an increasing number of EFL learners in Chinese colleges and universities and making a huge impact on the Chinese College English learners. Through taking questionnaire inquiry and individual interview methods, the present study intends to reach a fuller situation of English major students’ mobile phone dictionaries’ usage. The subjects involved in this study were English major students of College of Foreign Languages in Honghe University. The research data were collected from questionnaires and individual interviews. It indicates that students hold a very positive attitude toward mobile phone dictionaries’ using. The paper investigates the present condition that more and more college students use mobile phone dictionaries. It also proposes some practical suggestions on how to apply mobile phone dictionaries to assist the classroom teaching in order to integrate mobile phone dictionaries into the vocabulary teaching particularly so as to improve the teaching efficiency and cultivate students’ individual learning and competence of autonomous learning.
