His works are many, among which the most famous is "the French Lieutenant's Woman" this novel. About the novel, before many experts criticize is application of feminist, existentialism and historical point of view to analyze and application of narrative theory to analytical comments, not much. Narratology is the nineteen sixties emerging a literary criticism practice, this emerging literature criticism actually represents the modern novel actually grow new bias. In this thesis is the application of narratology to analyze the works of narrative rhythm and the classification of the working environment, the goal lies in with a newer eyesight to watch the artistic charm of the works. This paper is divided into four parts, the first chapter introduces the life of John Fowles and literary attainments, focusing on the emergence and development of narrative. The second chapter is the study of the rhythm of the work by the time interval between the classical narrative theory and Bakhtin's theory of rehabilitation. The novel not only in the time which one stationaryplatform beats, and alternating each other in space. The third chapter discusses the narrative work environment of the novel. The narrative person, the narrative focus and narrative method are the main three aspects of the work environment. The French Lieutenant's woman is the author of third and first person. The important application of the focusing method is internal focusing. Fowles important narrative method to take the method to show, as little as possible the application of the method. In the first chapter, the thesis is summarized. This paper takes the most important time distance in the narrative study, and studies the novel by the complex and the narrative work condition. From the above analysis it can be seen that story in more or less progress, readers follow the protagonist step by step into the heroine's heart world, is precisely the victory applications because of the above narrative skills, readers understand conflict with the hero and heroine heart world, understand him on inherent indecent to maintain and to seek for freedom.
