Abstract:This thesis discusses Chinese and English film title translation from the perspective of domestication and foreignization, emphasizing focusing upon the apt use of the two translation strategies. The movie title translation is vital, viewed as the direct and easy way of introducing the foreign culture as well as spreading the national culture. In order to make the title translation of a foreign movie best represent the exotic flavor of a country and fully meet the need of audience expectation and aesthetic judgments, the two strategies of domestication and foreignization should be adopted in a rational way. The paper points out the respective functions of domestication and foreignization in film title translation and then illustrates the application of these two translating strategies.Finally, the paper points out that, in film title translation, domestication and foreignization are doomed to coexist at present and for quite a long time under such circumstances. 摘要:本文从归化和异化的角度探讨了中英文电影片名翻译的问题,着重研究如何合理地使用两种主要的翻译策略。电影翻译尤其是电影片名翻译至关重要。它以最简洁的方式肩负着帮助人们理解影片,了解异域文化的重任。要使外语影片名的翻译既能体现“异域情调”又迎合译语观众的鉴赏力,在翻译中就应该合理使用归化与异化的策略,使影片翻译取得最佳翻译及宣传效果。论文还指出归化和异化在指导电影片名翻译方面各自起到的作用,并通过示例分析来具体应用这两种翻译策略中。最后总结在当今电影片名翻译的大环境中归化与异化翻译必将长时间共存。 关键词:影片名;翻译;归化;异化
