Abstract:Nowadays movie is one of the most important medium in the world and the indispensable part of our modern life. Movie also is a cross-cultural product. Since China’s policy of reform and opening up to the outside world was carried out, more and more foreign movies were introduced into China market. So the translation of the movie plays an important role in it. As part of the movie, movie title which is brief in world has its own unique figurative language and national culture. Movie title embodies not only the art but also the commerce. The audiences know a movie through the movie title at first. The writer of this thesis lists the three functions of the movie title and the method of the translation of the movie titles including transliteration, literal translation, free translation and the combination. At the same this thesis analyzes the existed problem of the translation of movie title.

中文摘要:电影是当今最具影响力的文化传媒之一，是现在生活不可或缺的一部分，同时也是跨文化交流的产物。随着改革开放，中国引进了越来越多的外国电影。因此电影的翻译扮演了非常重要的角色。电影片名作为电影的一部分，虽然语言简短，确有其独特的语言特色和民族文化特点，是电影艺术性和商业性的集中体现，是观众认识电影的开门砖。因此，本文列出电影片名的三个功能，以及分析英文电影片名翻译的主要方法，即音译、直译、意译和结合法，同时还分析了当今电影片名翻译中所存在的问题。
