Abstract: Based on the theory of speech act of Austin and Searle’s research work, this essay analyzes the gender differences in language use and especially probes into the gender differences in pronunciation, lexicology and sentence structure in “locutionary act” and the application of English in daily communication. It also reveals the physical, psychological, social and cultural reasons for the cause of these differences. In the end, the essay points out the significance of paying attention to the gender differences in English comprehension.

摘要：论文对言语行为理论作了概述，介绍了Austin及其学生Searle对言语行为理论的贡献；并对语言使用中的性别差异进行了分析，分别指出了在言语行为三大分类中“言内行为”中存在语音、词汇和句法方面及在语言日常应用方面的性别差异。在此基础上揭示了产生这一现象的生理、心理以及文化背景等社会根源，最后指出要重视语言使用过程中的性别差异现象对正确理解语言的重要性。
