Abstract: Arthur Miller is one of the most influential playwrights in contemporary America. Death of a Salesman, his masterpiece, is considered as the first great American tragedy. In this play, Miller charges America with selling a false myth that everybody could achieve his American dream as long as he works hard. This thesis will explore the theme and techniques the author uses for a better appreciation of his work.
