Abstract: This paper, through the analysis of plots of the novel Gulliver’s Travels, makes an exploration of the image of Gulliver. Gulliver travels around the world for several times and suffers great hardships, but he can always head off the disasters, which attributes to the flexibility of his personality. Gulliver is smooth, slick and able to adapt to the variable life of creatures and cultures in different countries. The paper aims to reveal a more comprehensive and objective understanding of Gulliver’s flexible personality.

摘要：本文通过对《格列佛游记》故事情节的分析，对格列佛的人物特征提出了新的认识。格列佛多次远渡重洋，周游列国，每到一处都会遭遇万般劫难，但最终总能化险为夷，归功于格列佛入境随俗，八面玲珑，在挫折面前能屈能伸的柔韧性格，这种灵活的性格使其在充满变数的生活中得以适应不同国家的人物形态及其文化风俗习惯。本文旨在使读者更全面客观地了解格列佛其人灵活的性格。
