Abstract:With the rapid transformation of the modern society, the collision of the new and old social values has given rise to a string of new types of marriages, like flash marriage, hidden marriage, naked marriage, among others. In terms of marriages, the classic work Pride and Prejudice will naturally come into my mind. Therefore, I would like to divide my thesis into two parts. In the first part I will discuss the economic and social development and female outlook of marriage in the age of Jane Austin, and give my views on five marriages. In the second part, I will, firstly, introduce and analyze three new types of marriages, including flash marriage, hidden marriage and naked marriage; then I will correlate the marriage values in Pride and Prejudice with those of the contemporary marriages and offer the practical advice, if any.
