Abstract:With the development of global economic integration and prosperity of foreign trade, the translation of English business contracts is becoming more and more important in our country’s foreign trade. Once business contracts are signed, they will be a kind of legal documents legally binding both parties. The rigor and complexity of the language in English business contracts makes it difficult to be understood accurately and properly. Through study of the features of long sentences in English business contracts, this paper is to find out some practical and useful translating skills. This paper consists of four chapters. Chapter one severs as a literature review to English business contracts, which includes the definition, classification, current studies of English business contracts, and this paper’s research background and significance. The features of long sentences in English business contracts are analyzed in chapter two. Chapter three expounds the translating skills of long sentences in English business contracts. First, the two basic translating principles of English business contracts are presented. Then, translating skills are introduced through some examples. The last chapter is a conclusion of the findings of this paper.
