Abstract:With China’s entry into WTO and the development of globalization, communication between China and Western countries is becoming more and more frequent. In order to avoid misunderstandings and improve efficiency in communication, it is necessary to learn foreign culture and enhance Intercultural Communication Competence (ICC), which is especially important for English majors. Till now, scholars and experts have done researches on ICC from different aspects and among different subjects. The thesis intends to do a survey research on the ICC level among the English majors of Department of Foreign Languages in Xuzhou Institute of Technology (XZIT), aiming at a thorough understanding of their current level and finding solutions to problems discovered in the survey. This thesis is composed of four chapters. Chapter one is an introduction to some related terms, previous studies and the purpose of the thesis. Chapter two tends to introduce the methodology, including questionnaire, participates and procedures. Chapter three focuses on results and analysis. The last chapter is the conclusion. It will sum up the main points of the thesis and state limitations of the research.
