The teaching approach centered by lexical chunks can eliminate the negative influence brought to learners by false analogy and overgeneralization caused by intralingual transfer and negative transfer of mother tongue. The result of this research shows that such cognitive mechanisms as metaphor and metonymy helps learners to grasp the different meaning items of a polysemous word.
