| 摘 要：英语中本族语词汇与大量的法语借词和谐地交织在一起,为英语多样化的文体实现提供了丰富的表达手段,而现代英语中的不同文体在很大程度上是由不同来源的词汇所决定的。For certain historical reasons and due to the features of English itself,Modern English has become a rope of three strands,i.e.,the vocabulary and grammar of the Anglo-Saxon origin,large numbers of French loanwords and phrases and the complex sentences with native language material upon the imitation of Latin syntax.English etymology has greatly enriched the means of expression for English style,and made varied styles in English possible.Meantime,the differences in varied styles restrict language users′ selection of language elements,especially words.In this sense,language elements become a means of distinguishing different styles.Because of the harmonious mixture of the three strands in Modern English,it is important for language users today deeply to understand the stylistic functions of English etymology,and to be good at making use of etymology to realize the styles they are after.，法语毕业论文，法语论文 |
