This phenomenon is called "different On-readings in the same Kanji", which causes obstacles for Japanese learners in vocabulary acquisition. This paper studies the semantic relationship between the different On-readings in the same Kanji, based on the analysis of the different meanings between the different On-readings and the link between the different On-readings' appearance rate and the Kanji rank. There are 14 newly-discovered Kanji, in which the different On-readings show different semantic features.
