The parameter-based framework （PBF） is a newly-developed model for the study of evaluation in texts. As a typological model based on the broad definition of evaluation, PBF is a synthesis of various pre- vious approaches and operates along sets of evaluative parameters. The parameters are mutually independent and at the same time interplay with each other to form evaluative conflation and collocation to account for the complexity and multi-dimensionality of evaluation. PBF has the distinctive characteristics of comprehensiveness, open-endedness and flexibility.
