Abstract:

Chinese interrogative sentence usually can be divided into four categories: the length of the questions, alternative questions, wh questions and questions. In the past decades, the length of the question, choose questions and wh question is always many linguists concern the core. However, for Chinese is a rhetorical question research is quite scarce. In order to better understand and apply the Chinese rhetorical question, in the description of the guest, this paper aims to make a more comprehensive research on the syntactic features, semantic differences and questions of the Chinese syntactic and rhetorical questions. This thesis discusses the syntactic features of the Chinese rhetorical question from the point of view of the theory of the situation. On the syntactic features of the Chinese positive rhetorical question sentence, four kinds of research methods are adopted: the transformation analysis, the displacement analysis, the effectiveness of the field analysis and the core analysis. These four kinds of analysis methods have their own disadvantages. This paper presents a method for the study of the same A-not-A derivation process, which is more consistent with the most simple scheme. The approach to the question of the A-not-A question is the intermediate language status of the interrogative phrase.
