The NPY cDNA sequence contains 506 bp nucleotides with the open reading frame (ORF) of 300 bp, encoding a putative protein of 99 amino - acid residues. The sequence alignment shows low similarity in the NPY precursor proteins among vertebrates, but is highly conservative in the NPY mature peptide domains. According to the phylogenetic analysis, the Thailand betta NPY was more closely related to other perciformes fishes, while the molecular evolution of fish NPY develops into two distinct branches. Tissue distribution analysis by RT - PER revealed that the Thailand betta NPY showed the evident tissue - specific profiles in both male and female. The preliminary information is provided by the present study for the molecular evolution and functional study of NPY. |
