The historic theme（Gadai） is very important in its construction. In addition to Japanese historic themes, Ukiyo- e painters also choose Chinese historic themes as subjects for their art. This paper mainly focuses on the use of Chinese historical figures in Ukiyo- e, by analyzing the specific examples of Han dynasty＇s famous general Fan Kuai＇s image and the narrative of literary works in the same period.
