《走出非洲》是丹麦女作家伊萨克·迪内森最著名的一部自传体小说。小说女主人公凯伦在非洲经营咖啡农场的生活是作者本人在1914年至1931年间在非洲生活的写照。小说讲述了凯伦在非洲的交易婚姻失败、庄园丰收又破产、重获爱情又痛失情人、两度走进非洲又最终被迫离开非洲的曲折故事。她在非洲的十七年生活似乎总在失去，但不可否认，她一直在成长！凯伦逐渐从生活的不断失去中感悟到爱情、生活及生命的真谛，英语论文范文，最终成长为一位成熟、独立、完整的女性。本论文分别从凯伦对陌生野性的生活环境的适应、爱情及事业三个方面着手略论其失去和成长，揭示了失去与挫折关于凯伦的成长有着不可磨灭的重要意义。
本文共分为五部分。第一部分对作家著作及小说探讨状况的简介；第二至第四的主体部分研讨了凯伦在东非肯尼亚经历的感情、事业等方面的挫折、失去及成长；最后一部分揭示了挫折关于凯伦成长的重要意义。

Abstract
Autobiographical novel, Out of Africa is one of the most famous works of Isak Dinesen, a Danish woman writer. The author depicts Karen’s life when she was managing the farm in Africa, from 1914 to 1931, and tells about the twists that Karen experienced, including the failure of her mercenary marriage, the foison and bankruptcy of her farm, the re-acquisition and loss of lovers, twice entering into Africa and final departure from Africa. It seems that Karen has always been losing things, but admittedly, she has been growing all the time! Karen gradually perceives the true meanings of love and life from continual losses in life, and finally grows into a mature, independent and full woman. This thesis analyzes Karen’s losses and growth from three respects of her adaptation of strange and wild environment, her love and her career respectively, which reveals the indelible important significances of losses and setbacks for Karen’s growth.
This thesis is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction of the novel, the author and the current research status of Out of Africa. The body part, from the second part to the forth part, explores the emotional and career setbacks that Karen experienced, and her losses and growth in Kenya. The last part reveals the significant implications of setbacks for Karen’s growth.
