Abstract
Culture conflicts and acculturation between China and The U.S. are studied significantly at home and abroad. Culture conflicts are unavoidable in intercultural communication. But with the deep understanding of culture, acculturation is a natural result. The movie Gran Torino tells a story about culture conflicts and acculturation between China and The United States.
In this thesis, the writer investigates culture conflicts and acculturation between China and The U.S. in the movie. The thesis is composed of four chapters. Chapter one serves as the introduction of the movie and terminology; chapter two and three analyze the culture conflicts and acculturation between China and The U.S. respectively in the movie, especially the conflicts and acculturation in family values and friendship value. And it goes further to probe into the causes of the differences in family values and friendship value between the two countries, exploring some methods to learn to acculturate; in the end, it analyzes the impacts from culture conflicts and acculturation between China and The United States, especially the impacts on overseas study and transnational enterprises, showing the significance of acculturation.

摘 要
中美文化冲突与文化适应成为国内外着重探讨的课题。在跨文化交际中，英语论文题目，文化冲突是不可避免的；但是随着对文化更深入的了解，文化适应也是自然而然的结果。电影《老爷车》正讲述了对于中美文化冲突与文化适应的故事。
笔者从电影中探究了中美文化冲突与文化适应。论文分为四个章节，英语论文，第一章节是电影及相关术语的介绍；第二、三章节分别略论电影中体现出的中美文化冲突与文化适应，尤其是对中美家庭观与朋友观的冲突与适应的略论，进一步探索了造成中美家庭观和朋友观异同的根源，并探究学会文化适应的措施；第四章节略论中美文化冲突与文化适应所带来的作用，尤其是对海外留学与跨国企业的作用，展现了文化适应的重要性。
