Abstract:
Communication, the process of expressing ideas and feelings, is the very important way of giving other people information.(OALD，2017) While during the interaction, different kinds of equipments and media are used. Computers, beepers, telegraphs and mobile phones are popular among people. Broadcasting, newspapers, advertisements, books and messages are the most efficient and vivid media of carrying and getting information. Meanwhile, language is a capital tool for communication, and English speakers account for the many. When chatting and sending messages with friends, we always speak and write spoken and informal English. Various abbreviations are used in editing messages. This article mainly talks about abbreviations in daily communication and daily life, and its impact on getting across information. Abbreviations bring about efficiency, but also ambiguity.
