Abstract
Being a common linguistic phenomenon in almost every language, polysemy plays a significantly important role in people’s language learning. Many scholars have done a lot of researches from the perspective of traditional linguistics such as semantic component analysis, structuralism, and cognitive, etc. However, componential theory and structural approach turn out to be deficient and limited in terms of polysemy study.
As a special and instructive branch of Cognitive Linguistics, Frame Semantics renders us “a particular way of looking at word meanings”. According to Fillmore（1985），“Frame”is the structural background of human experiences and thoughts.In order to understand any concept of the system ,one must firstly understand its whole structure.Fillmore＆Atkins（1992）once said,polysemy can, factually,be regarded as the result of shifting one semantic frame to another(by metaphor or metonym).Several concepts of the theory including frame, frame elements, frame systems besides some related concepts such as scene and perspective are adopted as the theoretical framework of this theory to explain polysemy from a new perspective.
My dissertation is based on the theory of Frame Semantics and selects the polysemous word Head as the research aim.Through a comprehensive
analysis on its meanings ,I hope to reveal its four frames(two noun frames and two verb frames) and talk about its two mechanisms:metaphor and metonym.
Finally, the major findings, limitations of the study and the suggestions for further study are concluded.

一词多义是一种普遍的语言现象，几乎存在于每种语言，属于语言学习中的
重要部分。在过去的探讨中，一些学者从语义成分略论法，结构主义略论法，认
知语义学等角度来进行多义性探讨。然而，对于语义探讨，尤其是一词多义的研
究，语义成分略论法及结构主义略论法有着明显的局限性。并且很少能够全面且系统地涵盖所有多义性.
作为认知语言学一个独特的，尤具指导意义的分支，框架语义学为我们提供
一种新的探讨词义的措施。Fillmore（1985）认为，“框架”是人类经验、思维的结构背景，英语论文范文， 要理解系统中的任何一个概念都要先理解它所在的整体结构。Fillmore&Atkins（1992：76)：框架语义学认为，框架是理解和界定词义的基础，对框架中任何一个概念的阐释势必要参照植根于生活体验的结构、信念和实践经验。Fillmore＆Atkins（1992）曾经提出，多义词实际上可以被认为是从一个语义框架到另一新的语域(通过换喻或隐喻)转移的结果。本文选用了框架语义学中框架、框架成分、框架系统几个重要概念﹑场景，视角等几个相关概念为文章的框架理论，以此来进行略论。
本人以框架语义学理论为基础, 选取了多义词head为探讨目标, 并对其具有的含义进行全面的略论, 揭示其四个语义框架并研讨其暗喻和转喻联系。框架语义学的确为系统、明确地辨析多义词提供了有效的途径和措施。
最后，英语论文范文，文章总结了本探讨的成果及不足之处，以及为今后探讨提出几点设想。
