Abstract
News titles are the eyes of news and keys to attract the readers’ attention. A good title not only expresses the original content accurately but also touches the finishing point of the news. This paper discusses the characteristics, structures and translation of English news titles. The research was mainly based on the analysis and comparison of different titles from newspapers and magazines. It can help English learners better understand the linguistic rules of English news titles, keeping up with the development of modern English.

摘 要
新闻标题是新闻的眼睛，是吸引读者注意力的关键。一个好的标题不仅能够正确提供新闻的内容，而且起到画龙点睛的影响。文章基于报纸和杂志不同标题的略论探讨，讨论英语新闻标题的特点，结构和翻译。有助于英语学习者更好地了解英语新闻标题的语言规律，英语论文网站，跟上现代英语的发展步伐。

1. Introduction
News titles are prevalent and diverse in form in newspapers. Different people may have given different definitions to the news title. Some think it is a tool for revealing the news content. Some think it is the eye of news. Others believe that it demonstrates the highest skills of news language. Then what is a news title? According to Wikipedia, a news title is the text at the top of a newspaper article, indicating the nature of the article below it. From the definition we can easily realize the title’s position in news. In the fast developing world, the appeal of a wonderful title may surpass the news itself.
