摘 要
随着社会发展，国与国之间的文化交流日益密切。由于不同的地理环境、哲学思想和其他因素的作用，英语论文，各国的文化存在诸多的异同。而不同的文化背景使得中西方之间文化禁忌的表现方式也有很多差别。中西方文化禁忌的异同主要表现在日常生活、节日、社会交际、个人隐私以及宗教信仰等方面 。
本文将着重探讨中西方之间的文化禁忌。文章首先介绍了文化和文化禁忌，阐述了禁忌的特点和中西方不同的文化禁忌，旨在使人们更好地了解中西方的文化异同。本文还介绍了委婉语的使用， 说明了在文化交流中有效使用委婉语代替禁忌语能够避免由于文化异同引起的冲突。最后阐述了提高文化意识的重要性。本文旨在通过探讨中西方禁忌的异同来阐述中西方文化的异同，提高人们的文化意识，从而更好的促进中西方文化的交流和发展。

Abstract
Along with the social development, cultural communications between countries have increased. Because of geography, philosophy and other factors, there exist various differences among different cultures. And the different cultural background leads to different cultural taboos between Chinese and west countries. The different taboos are generally embodied in people’s daily life, festivals, social activities, personal privacy and religions.
This paper will focus on the research of cultural taboos between Chinese and English. It will firstly give the definitions of culture and cultural taboos. Then it describes characteristics of taboo and different ways of expressing cultural taboos between Chinese and west countries for the purpose of helping people have a better understanding of their different cultures. In addition, the paper introduces the use of euphemisms, illustrating that using euphemisms to take the place of taboos in the cultural communications can effectively avoid the conflicts caused by different cultures. Finally, it explains the importance of raising people’s cultural awareness. This thesis aims at explaining the differences of Chinese and west cultures through the study of their cultural taboos in order to help people to raise their cultural awareness and facilitate the communication and development between China and west countries.
