摘要
新闻标题是新闻的重要组成部分，是读者了解新闻的第一步。新闻标题的功能是浓缩新闻内容和吸引读者注意。本论文通过比较和对比研讨英语新闻标题与中文新闻标题的差异点。首先，本文系统概括了新闻标题的普遍特点，英语毕业论文，即简洁与新颖，英语论文题目，并提出达到这两特点的用词手段与措施。然后，本文从新闻标题的结构、用词的词性倾向、时态和修辞措施四个方面来简析英语新闻标题与中文新闻标题的相同与不同之处。另外，本文使用并略论大量典型的新闻标题例子来证明作者提出的论点。最后，作者说明了本论文的意义及其存在的局限性。

Abstract
News headline is an important part of news as it is the window for readers to be aware of the news. The function of headlines is to generalize the content of the news and attract the readers’ attention. The thesis mainly studies the features in English and Chinese headlines by the method of comparison and contrast. In the first place, the common features, brevity and novelty, are presented including the writing skills by which to achieve brevity and novelty. Then the similar and different features in English and Chinese headlines are presented in the aspects of structure, vocabulary, tense and rhetorical devices. Besides, a large number of typical headline examples are applied and analyzed to prove the arguments which the author presents in the thesis. Last but not the least, the significance and limitation of the study are discussed.

1 Introduction
As the globalization develops rapidly, China needs more and more exchange with the outside world in many aspects, such as culture, economy, technology and education. The news is a convenient way to acquire a large number of information of foreign countries. For this reason, English and Chinese newspapers become an essential way for Chinese people to realize what occur in the homeland and in foreign countries. A piece of news is usually divided into three parts, the headline, the lead and the body. Among the three parts of news, the headline is like a window of the news for readers to gain the main information. Therefore, it is significant to research in features in English and Chinese news headlines. Moreover, the comparison and contrast of those two kinds of headlines is necessary to analyze the features.
