Abstract
As a key concept in Bakhtin School's theory of utterance, dialogism has drawn much attention from the circles of both linguistics and literature since the late 1960s. Although it is claimed that any language use is of dialogism, the dialogic nature of discourse is primarily based on the analysis of literary texts. Recent studies have shown that dialogism is also an essential feature of non-literary texts. This thesis intends to present the theory of dialogism in the news headline. This paper is devoted to the detailed analysis of the dialogic nature of the news headline which is exemplified in the forms of ostensive dialogism and covert dialogism. The study can be used for reference in news reading and writing.

1 Inrtroduction
In today's world of information explosion, just as Daniel Bell wrote in his work The Cultural Contradictions Of Capitalism, the contemporary culture is turning into a kind of visual culture (2017:16). The connection between news reports and people's life and work is getting inseparably associated. With the pace of life gradually accelerating, people do hope to get as much news information as possible in the shortest possible time. And, with the prosperity of journalism and the increase of mass media, news has entered a new era, which is known as the era of reading headlines. Headlines play more and more important roles in the process of realizing effective communication of news information. An eye-catching headline is the first step of a successful news. Since attracting and pleasing readers is vital, no one can afford to neglect the influence of dialogicality in news headlines.
