A Study on College Students' Chinese-English Code Switching from the Perspective of the Politeness Principle
Abstract
Using Politeness Principle when dialogues have Chinese-English code switching is commonly seen as a kind of social - cultural phenomenon, it penetrates into the groups of different classes. As college students have learned English for many years, this phenomenon more easily appears in their charting with each other. This thesis is based on Politeness Principle, uses the dialogues of college students daily life as cases, and from the point of code switching, studies and analyzes the Politeness Principle such as Tact Maxim, Generosity Maxim, Approbation Maxim, Modesty Maxim, Agreement Maxim, Sympathy Maxim in college students' daily talks which is used by them to establish and keep the relationship with others. The purpose is to provide a reference for English teaching and learning.
