Chapter 1 Introduction


1.1 Background
随着经济的发展和改革的深化和开放,中国人与外国人交流越来越频繁,英语已经成为一个全球性的语言,因此,英语口语确是比以前更重要。虽然许多学生做了很好的工作,他们的阅读和写作,他们是在听力和口语薄弱,因此“哑巴英语”的广泛存在。英语口语已经成为阻碍他们的沟通与讲英语的。当他们说英语,他们不能说出的话,自信和正确。他们不愿公开自己的嘴巴,说英语,因为怕犯错误。近年来,素质教育,促进中学生的能力已经吸引了大量的社会关注。在中学英语教育的目的是使学生掌握基本知识和基本交际能力和平均同时刺激后期的培训学习,通过听,说,读,写他们的利益。它也旨在促进学生的能力使用英语通过学习和积累。但由于测试成绩的作用,英语论文范文,学生成为唯一副本的观点和工具,导致进一步的了解,TBA。许多中学都已经尝试了基于任务的措施和很多老师都不断寻找新的有效的教学措施。因为它出现在1980年,它开始挑战传统的购买力平价措施。 TBA的核心概念是规划和指导任务语言教学强奎基地。这种措施强调的是,应通过使用的语言,而不是无休止的机械的句型操练,就像在传统类语言习得。With the development of economy and the deepening of reforms andopening up, Chinese people communicate with foreigners more frequently, and English has become a global language, as a result, oral English is more important than before. Though many students do a good job in their reading and writing, they are weak in listening and speaking, thus “dumb English” exists widely. Oral English has become an obstacle to their communication with Englishspeakers. When they speak English, they can not utter words confidentlyand correctly. They are unwilling to open their mouths to speak English because of being afraid of making mistakes.In the recent years, quality Education and promotion of abilities ofmiddle school students have attracted lots of attention of the society. Theaim of English education in middle school is to make students acquirebasic knowledge and basic communicative abilities and meanwhilestimulate their interests of learning through the trainings of listening,speaking, reading and writing. It also aims to advance students’ abilitiesto use English through learning and accumulation. But because of theinfluence of test scores, students become the tool that only copy with viewpoints and resulted in further understanding of TBA. Many middleschools have already tried the task-based approach; and a lot of teachersare searching constantly for new effective teaching methods. Since itappeared in the 1980’s, it began to challenge the traditional PPP approach.The core concept of TBA is to plan and instruct the language teaching onthe base of tasks. The emphasis of this approach is that languageacquisition should be achieved by using the language but not by endlessmechanical sentence pattern drills just like that in the traditional classes.
TBA can improve and “develop learners’ ability of observation,involvement, inquiry, induction, cooperation and creation” (Swain, 1985).It is also helpful to develop students’ communicative language skill.Students want to pay attention to the accuracy and fluency of language,and on the relationship between language and culture. So TBA can solvesome problems in English teaching in middle school and improvestudents’ ability to use language.Owing to the above reasons, this thesis tries to find out whether theapplication of TBA in middle school can change students' attitude to oralEnglish and improve their oral English. And it also gives some practicalsuggestions on adopting TBA in middle school.


1.2 Research significance and purpose
Task-based approach is relatively novel and differs greatly from thetraditional PPP teaching approach which involves presentation, practice and production. Task-based approach requires the interactive andinitiative activities from both the teacher and students.
