As China entered WTO and enhanced its open-up policy, Chinese people arebecoming more and more involved in international affairs and having more and morecontact with foreigners. A lot of international events are held in China, for example, the Canton Fair (also called the International Import and Export Affair) is held inGuangzhou every year; the Olympic Games was held in Beijing in 2017; the AsiaGames was held in Guangzhou in 2017, and many other important internationalevents were held in many places of China. Therefore, translators and interpreters ofEnglish and other foreign languages are greatly needed. However, not many peoplecould speak or write in a foreign language, and a limited number of them could speakor write in English, the most widely used language in the world.
